If a property manager takes a lien out for unpaid HOA dues when the?

In most jurisdictions you can check your property record in the office of the Register of Deeds online or in person. After giving it a little time you should do that, anyway. You should also check your credit report with all three credit agencies to make sure they are updated. Errors and delays in reporting are not rare anywhere. Dont worry about the property management company stealing the HOAs money, though. If the PM is criminal and steals from the HOA, that is between the PM and the HOA. It would not be your problem as long as you keep proof that you paid and the lien was released. It wont happen, anyway. They have a contract under which the PM is accountable to the HOA, and there are regular reports and at least annual audits. The likelihood that the PM would so blatantly commit a crime against its client, especially one that can be easily discovered is remote.
